MEDIA

The home page of TEENBIZNIK regularly runs surveys for
teenagers to respond on important issues, and then reports the results
to the media, and appropriate government officials. This month TEENBIZNIK
is asking teenagers to submit their opinion on whether a “Dear
Abby” type program for schools would help decrease school violence
and other problems experienced by teenagers.
On April 24, The Washington Post ran a story entitled “Schools
Seek Ways To Prevent Violence - Web Site Links to Successful Programs.”
This article talked about a new web site started in Virginia at www.preventviolenceva.org
that offers 182 listings of anti-violence and anti-drug campaigns across
the country that Virginia schools can consider adopting. On the same
day, the newspaper reported about a 14-year-old boy in Red Lion, Pennsylvania,
“armed with three handguns shot and killed his junior high school
principal before fatally shooting himself in the head as his fellow
eighth-graders prepared for class this morning in the school's cafeteria,
police and school officials said.”
If time is taken to listen to what teenagers have to say, their opinions
are very legitimate. Unfortunately, most times it’s teenagers
who listen seriously to teenagers. If you think about it, teenagers’
opinions may really be able to help with some serious problems in this
country. Maybe teenagers hold some answers for serious problems like
school violence, stress, eating disorders, depression – if only
someone would listen!
Please let your readers know about TEENBIZNIK.COM so teenagers can be
involved in the problems that affect their lives. TEENBIZNIK will report
what teenagers have to say to the media and appropriate government officials.
Teenagers can go to the web site to see the results of the surveys.
